3 Ways to Spend a Day in Our Zion National Park Bungalows—That Aren’t Zion

by | May 31, 2023

It probably comes as no surprise that one of the most popular activities to enjoy during a stay at Zion Wildflower Resort is a visit to Zion National Park. But while it’s true that our resort is the perfect base camp for exploring all that the national park has to offer, it’s far from the only way to spend your time. From a day trip to another national park to a day swimming in Zion right here at our resort, keep reading. We’re bringing you five ways to spend a day in our Zion National Park bungalows—without visiting Zion!

1. Visit Another National Park

Zion might be the closest national park to Springdale resorts. But it’s not the only one you can visit in a day from our resort.

Bryce Canyon is the next closest national park to our Zion National Park bungalows. Located about two hours from Zion, this national park offers equally stunning, unique views. One feature you won’t find in Zion are the hoodoos. These towers of rock fill the massive natural amphitheater that is the focal point of the park. Similar to Zion, Bryce Canyon also has a shuttle system. The shuttles in Bryce are optional but are great for avoiding having to find parking on a busy day.

Another great day trip is the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, located just under three hours from Zion. While the Grand Canyon is even more popular than Zion, most of the 6.3 million annual visitors flock to the South Rim. The North Rim sees only a small number of annual visitors, around 10 percent of the total number, thanks to its remote location and the long drive to get from one side of the canyon to the other. You’ll still get to enjoy views of this world wonder, but without bumping elbows with thousands of tourists in the process.

2. Visit a State Park

If you want a break from the crowds of Zion but still want to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Southern Utah, head for one of the many Utah state parks. Not only do each of these parks feature some stunning scenery, but many also have unique attractions you won’t find in Zion.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is one great option. Located just over an hour from Springdale resorts, this park features breathtaking sand dunes in a light pink hue. You can enjoy sledding down the dunes or trekking across them. Make sure you stick around for sunset to see these beautiful dunes come to life.

Another feature that you won’t find in Zion is a lake. Luckily, less than an hour away is Sand Hollow State Park. With a large lake, it’s the perfect destination for swimming, fishing, and watersports. Like Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, you’ll also find dunes here, as well as off-road trails where you can rent a UTV for a thrilling ride.

3. Spend a Day at the Resort

There’s no shortage of incredible day trips to enjoy during your stay in our Zion National Park bungalows. But you don’t have to go far to plan an amazing, memorable day with your family and friends. In fact, you don’t even have to leave the resort!

With so many activities to enjoy, it’s easy to fill a day or several with fun during your stay. Of course, the best reason to book a hotel with a pool in Zion is the chance to cool off on a hot day. After swimming in Zion, dry off, and hit the playground or challenge your friends to some friendly competition with a round of cornhole or ping pong. Spend your evenings relaxing around a campfire or doing a little stargazing.

Our Zion National Park bungalows are a part of the experience as well. Whether you’re planning a stay in one of our luxurious Grand Mesa Tents or a unique Covered Wagon, you’ll definitely want to set aside some time to relax in your room.
