If you’re thinking about planning a family vacation in 2024, keep reading. We’re breaking down the tips you need to know to plan the ultimate getaway.

Choose the Right Zion Hotel

Your perfect family vacation starts with choosing the right resort. Where you stay will have a huge impact on your vacation. The right choice will give your family room to relax, exciting activities to enjoy if you decide to take a break from visiting ZIon and other nearby parks, and the opportunity to spend quality time together.

Zion Wildflower Resort is the perfect family-friendly hotel for many reasons. Our wide range of lodging options allow you to customize your stay for your family. Whether they want to experience camping near Zion in one of our more rustic Watchman Tents, or prefer a few more comforts of home with a glamorous camping stay in a Grand Mesa Tent, there’s a glamping option for everyone. Or, opt for an even more unique stay in one of our Covered Wagons. Larger families can easily book multiple different types of lodging, all while still staying within a short walk of one another.

Plan a Day (or Two) of Rest

You’ll no doubt want to maximize your time enjoying Zion National Park and the many other outdoor destinations that Southern Utah has to offer during your stay. But when you’re traveling as a family with many different ages, it’s always a good idea to plan a day or two of rest into your itinerary, especially if you’re here for a longer stay.

When you book a stay at Zion Wildflower Resort, your day of rest could just wind up being your family’s favorite day of your vacation. The best hotel Zion has to offer has a wide range of amenities to choose from, including something for every age and interest. Take a dip in our resort style pool. Challenge your family to a game of ping pong or cornhole. Hop on a rental bike and take a zip around the property. At night, relax beneath the stars and warm up with a campfire. You might be taking a break from hiking and exploring, but you’ll still be making incredible memories with your family.

Choose Trails and Activities in Advance

While a day or two at Zion Wildflower Resort is a must during your family vacation, you’ll likely want to visit Zion a time or two during your stay, too. Before you venture into the park—or before your vacation even begins—it’s a good idea to research the trails and other activities you plan to enjoy. This will allow you to better choose options that fit your family’s interests and abilities.

Zion National Park is home to some of the most challenging hiking trails in the country. But while Angels Landing and The Narrows might be a couple of the park’s most famous trails, they are far from your only option, and not a great choice for a family-friendly day in Zion.

There are plenty of other kid-friendly trails to enjoy in the park. Weeping Rock is one great option. This short trail is just a half-mile long and follows the Virgin River to a rock overhang. Kids will love splashing around in the water, while adults will love the shade and taking a break from the bright sun on a hot day. Older kids will also enjoy Emerald Pools. There are three sections of this trail, so you can customize your experience.

Besides hiking, there are other activities in the park that are great for families with children, like joining a Ranger program or earning your Junior Ranger Badge.

Planning a Family-Friendly Glamorous Camping Adventure

Zion Wildflower Resort is the perfect place to plan a family vacation. Whether you’re traveling with kids or your whole extended family, it’s easy to plan a glamorous camping adventure that everyone can enjoy together.
