5 Ways to Spend an Evening Under Canvas in Zion National Park

by | Mar 20, 2024

Camping under canvas in Zion National Park is a great way to experience all that Southern Utah has to offer. But while there are plenty of day trips to enjoy during your stay at Zion Wildflower Resort, there’s also lots to do when you get back to your glamping tent each evening.

From stargazing to a movie night, there’s no shortage of ways to spend your evening. Keep reading to learn five ideas your whole family will love.

Start With a Dip in the Pool

After a long day of hiking and enjoying all that Southern Utah has to offer, nothing beats a dip in the pool!  One of the best pools Zion National Park has to offer, the resort-style pool at Zion Wildflower Resort is as beautiful as the views that surround it. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., it’s the perfect spot to unwind during your experience under canvas in Zion National Park.

Need to soak your sore muscles? There’s also a hot tub!

Movie Night

A movie night might not be the first thing that you think of when you think of camping underneath the stars. But one of the unique amenities you’ll find when you book a stay at our resort is our Movie Night. Alongside yoga and live music, movie nights are a seasonal special event that are free to guests.

These events take place during peak weekends. If you’re looking forward to enjoying a movie night beneath the stars with your family during your stay, give us a call to find out when our next movie night will be.

If you aren’t visiting when one of our movie nights takes place, a family game night is a great alternative. From cornhole to giant Jenga, ping pong, and spike ball, we have a variety of games for your family to choose from.

Whip Up Some Snacks

There may not be an onsite restaurant at Zion Wildflower Resort, but there are plenty of delicious dining options nearby. But if you’re in the mood for an evening snack while you take in the many other amenities, you won’t need to go far.

You might be under canvas in Zion National Park, but if you stay in one of our Grand Mesa Tents, it will be equipped with a kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. This is perfect for whipping up some late-night snacks or a quick breakfast before starting your day.

Want to make a larger meal during your stay? You’ll find several BBQ grills on our property that are great for a family grill out.

Stargazing

The inside of your canvas glamping tent is packed with surprising amenities you won’t find in your standard camping tent, like heated blankets, string lights, and plush beds. But one of the best amenities is just outside your tent.

Step outside of your tent and onto your private patio at night for an incredible view of the night sky. Nearby Zion National Park is an International Dark Sky Park, and while we might be outside the park, we still have incredible, clear views of the stars on clear nights.

If you have a smartphone or tablet, log in to Zion Wildflower’s complimentary WiFi and download a stargazing app. For just a few dollars, or in some cases, for free, you can get a full guide to spot stars, constellations, and more. Some even interact with your map to show you which stars are directly overhead.

Catch Up on Your Reading List

If your idea of a perfect vacation is having a chance to catch up on your reading list, you’ll find plenty of places to curl up and read throughout our resort. From your plush bed or a chair inside your tent to your private patio, poolside, or under our pavilion, there are plenty of places to relax while you enjoy a great book.

Better yet, why not bring along a read that’ll help you learn more about Zion during your visit? There are an endless number of books on the history of Zion National Park, the culture of the area’s original settlers, and the geography of the region. Check out a few great titles that the park service recommends here.
