Make These Reservations For Your Stay in Our Bungalow Cabins

If you’re planning a visit to Zion National Park in 2024, there are a handful of details you’ll need to take care of before your trip. One of the first is deciding where to stay. Even after you’ve chosen Zion Wildflower Resort, you’ll need to choose whether you want to stay in one of our bungalow cabins, a canvas glamping tent, or one of our unique covered wagons!

After you’ve booked your stay, flights, rental car, and other travel details, the next thing you need to consider is reservations. Depending on how you plan to spend your time during your stay in Zion National Park resorts, there are a few reservations you’ll need to make. Keep reading to learn the ones you shouldn’t miss ahead of your visit.

Do You Need Reservations to Visit Zion National Park?

You no doubt plan to spend some time exploring Zion National Park during your stay in one of our bungalow cabins. So one big question you no doubt have is whether or not you’ll make a reservation to visit Zion in 2024.

Other national parks across the country have begun requiring permits and reservations for visitors. Arches National Park, also located in Utah, requires timed entry tickets for much of the year. This can make planning your visit to this popular park a little more complicated.

The good news is that you won’t need a reservation to get into Zion National Park. Despite being the most popular national park in Utah and one of the most popular in the country, Zion won’t be requiring reservations or tickets to visit the park in 2024. This means you can plan a last-minute, spontaneous stay in a canvas glamping tent or bungalow, and still spend plenty of time in the park.

But while you won’t need a reservation to get into the park, there is one popular activity that does require one.

Reservations for Angels Landing

If you want to hike Angels Landing during your stay in our bungalow cabins, you will need to make a reservation.

In 2022, the National Park Service launched the Angels Land Pilot Permit Program. Under this program, all guests hoping to hike past Scouts Lookout on the trail are required to present a permit.

The process of getting an Angels Landing permit is a little more complicated than getting permits for other activities. Instead of simply asking for a permit and receiving one, you’ll need to enter a lottery system.

Permits are available through two lotteries. The first lottery, called the Seasonal Lottery, is held the previous season. The second, the Day-Before Lottery, is held daily, and awards permits for the following day. There is no way to obtain a permit the same day. If you’re hoping to hike Angels Landing during your visit, you’ll want to make sure to enter the Seasonal Lottery to increase your chances of getting a permit.

If you don’t get a permit, don’t fret. There are plenty of other amazing hiking trails to enjoy during your stay in our bungalow cabins.

Permits to Hike The Narrows

Angels Landing has the most well-known lottery system for obtaining a permit, perhaps of any national park in the U.S.. It’s also the most difficult permit to obtain during your time in Zion. But it’s not the only trail that requires a permit, and there are other activities that require a permit as well if you want to enjoy them during your stay in Zion National Park resorts.

If you want to hike a portion of The Narrows from the bottom up, you won’t need to get a permit in order to do so. But if you’re hoping to hike the full 16-mile trail from the top down, you will need a permit. 

Called a Wilderness permit, this permit is available online. While reservations are less difficult to get than a permit for Angels Landing, they can still sell out on popular days. In this case, you can try to enter the Last-Minute Drawing, a lottery held two days in advance of the date that permits are being awarded for. The Last-Minute Drawing is only for permits for one-day hikes of The Narrows, not for overnight backpacking trips.

Other Activities that Require a Permit

Hiking The Narrows and Angels Landing aren’t the only two activities that require a permit. Some other activities you’ll need a permit for if you’re hoping to enjoy them during your stay in our bungalow cabins include:

• River trips, including kayaking and rafting
• Rock climbing
• Horseback riding
